    The Book of OIL: Volume Two Now Available

    The second volume in the Book of OIL is now available for purchase. Volume Two covers the 2009 and 2010 seasons. From the back cover:
    The OklahomIraqis League began in Iraq in 2006 as a distraction for 10 soldiers of
    the Oklahoma Army National Guard's 1st Battalion, 158th Field Artillery Regiment.
    The Book of OIL is its ongoing oral history project.

    The second volume of the Book of OIL covers an important time in the league's
    league’s history. In the spring, the members were all shocked by the news
    that one of their brothers-in-arms was hit by a sniper in Ramadi. And, of course,
    the rest of the 158 was still in Iraq until just before the 2009 season began. Then,
    on the football front, the league had its first live draft, went online, started a
    podcast, purchased a trophy, started branding franchises with logos, and ordered their first custom jerseys. In hindsight, this is when the OIL became something greater than the sum of its parts, and this volume of its collective memories reflects that.
    It retails for $25.99 for a paperback version. If you'd like a hardcover copy, you can purchase one over at Blurb for $49.99. And it's available on Amazon Kindle for $3.99.

    The Book of OIL: Volume One Now Available

    You can now purchase the oral history of the first three seasons of the OIL. In its 322 pages, the Book of OIL: Volume One covers our year in Iraq and the 2006, 2007, and 2008 seasons of our incredible league. It is pricey, but such is life in the self-published, print-on-demand world the Book of OIL occupies. For the softcover version, the minimum price Amazon would list the book is about $38, and we're selling it for only $39.99. If you'd like to purchase it in hardcover, it will run $69.99 at Blurb. And it's available on Amazon Kindle for $4.99.

    Commissioner Cliburn to Discuss OIL on Sirius/XM Fantasy Sports Radio

    Tune in at 0745 CST tomorrow morning (Wednesday, July 29, 2015) to hear your commish on RotoExperts on Sirius/XM's Fantasy Sports Radio. We'll be discussing the OIL, our 10-year reunion and draft party, and our GoFundMe efforts. 

    Fantasy Sports Radio appears on channel 210 on Sirius Satellite Radio and on channel 87 on XM Satellite Radio. RotoExperts airs from 0600 to 1000 EST and is hosted by Adam Ronis and Tony Cincotta.

    Reunion/Draft Party Update

    The OIL is proud to announce the following: 
    • Our GoFundMe campaign is now 64% funded;
    • We've booked seven hotel rooms for the nights of September 5-6 at Aloft Hotel in Bricktown (Deep Deuce);
    • We've booked and paid for a Village Tours & Travel 55-passenger charter bus to transport us to AT&T Stadium Sunday morning and return us Sunday evening;
    • Yahoo! Sports has been granted permission to video our draft party at the stadium; 
    • We will be in the Desperadoes Room at the stadium, which is 30 yards by 50 yards;
    • Co-commissioner Duffy is 99% certain which draft software we'll use so that everyone can participate without it being an entirely-online draft; 
    • We are uncertain as to the exact logistics of how we'll draft (one league at a time; all leagues at once; etc.);
    • Commissioner Cliburn appeared on KOCO Channel 5 News at 10 last night discussing the reunion; 
    • As of right now, we have $1,326.31 to use for travel expenses;
    • THE DEADLINE TO REQUEST TRAVEL ASSISTANCE IS AUGUST 20, 2015 (get at me as soon as possible; don't make me put an hour on the deadline);
    • If you can NOT make it to the draft party, let me know as soon as possible;
    • Finally, the OIL has a new graphic designer to create the logos and uniforms of the newly-created PFC teams. I will be getting in touch with each new OIL member to discuss payment rates and design ideas.
