    NFC: Dead Again, 'Mericans Make Blockbuster Trade

    Sitting at 1-2, Cliburn and Schmidt decided to shake things up. Schmidt gave up the number one TE in the game to Cliburn for the fourth-highest scoring TE and the fourth-highest scoring WR (Jordan Reed and Steve Smith, respectively). It's a risky move for Cliburn, who now needs to find a WR3 somewhere in a crowd that includes names like Darius Heyward-Bey, Marqise Lee, Devin Funchess, and Devante Parker. Meanwhile, Schmidt gets more depth at WR and not too much of a drop off at TE. After the trade, Cliburn's projected victories went down by two, and FantasySP.com's trade analyzer liked Schmidt's haul more. 
    But Cliburn is undeterred. With Gronkowski on a bye, it's possible the 'Mericans fall to 1-3, but this puts them in a better position for the playoffs if they can find a replacement-level WR3 in the interim.

    AFC: Rebels Move Martavis Bryant

    After starting the season with three disappointing losses, Roe Rebel Alliance decided it couldn't wait on Martavis Bryant any longer. They trade him and Shane Vereen to the Redlegs for emerging RB David Johnson and steady-Eddie WR Nate Washington. It wasn't the most Roe could command for Bryant, but Roe really needed help for this week. LeSean McCoy may not play, and the Rebels don't have Karlos Williams backing him up. 

    This is the AFC's first trade of the season.

    AFC: Zerger's Week Four Preview

    Down goes Frazier! . . . or Brosh in our case. The man that was thought to be untouchable went down this week by a mere two points. But, like my Dad used to say, one point is as good as a million. Congrats to Jimmy Venable for getting his first win. What is amazing about our league is that there is only one team left undefeated: the Brewmasters. There are two teams that are still winless: the Cocks and Rebel Alliance. There are seven teams that are 2-1, only separated by points scored.

    With the standings being so close together, this week could actually separate some contenders from the fake contenders. A lot of experts had the War Ponies going all the way, the Redlegs have won almost half of their predicted wins and the Brewmasters are surprisingly leading the league. However, it appears to a lot of sports writers that the Hilliers are on the rise. 

    It seems that some players are starting to get planned for and schemed around by defenses, so make sure that every GM is paying attention to that.  Also, it is the start of October, which means the NFL will be supporting Pink for the fight against Breast Cancer. And this is the best time in sports all year; you have: NCAA Football; the NFL; NBA; and MLB Playoffs.  Enjoy the season and enjoy the weather.  Hope all of you are well my brothers and have a great week.

    NFC: Cliburn's Week Four Preview

    Only two teams in OIL history have begun the season 0-3 and gone on to make the playoffs: 
    • 2006: Peacock's Cocks
    • 2008: Purdue
    So, it can be done, but it really puts you behind the 8-ball to start out with three-straight losses. And that's why this week was so important for Finch, Morgan and Cliburn. 

    I told my wife I'd welcome 0-3 . . . because, when I ended up making the playoffs and winning the OIL Bowl, "they'll write books about our comeback." Her response? "Well, we know you'll write a book about it." But fret no more: the Arrogant Americans beat Dead Again to avoid an 0-3 start. Similarly, the Hard Targets got their first win of the season as well. But the same can't be said for Morgan, who now hopes he can be the third team to start 0-3 and still make the tournament.

    Conversely, only twice has a team that started out 3-0 missed the playoffs:
    • 2007: Pyle's cousin (competing as the Swamp Donkeys)
    • 2010: Dead Again
    After some tough losses by the top two teams, only one team is now 3-0: the DARC NARCS​.  Will they make it to 4-0? More analysis after the jump.
