    New Helmets for the Pain Train, 'Mericans

    OIL manager Zachary Jessen purchased a throwback helmet harkening back to the first iteration of his franchise, DominationStation (before we realized his logo was plagiarized). Meanwhile, Arrogant Americans manager ordered a helmet commemorating his 2012 championship. Both helmets have arrived and look fantastic. As always, HelmetNation, LLC. produced the unique memorabilia. No OIL funds were expended for these items.

    Revamped Homepage Aimed at Visitor Traffic

    By OIL Commissioner Justin C. Cliburn
    After seven years of using the OIL Blog as okiraqi.org's homepage, a major site update created a new, sleek, and responsive homepage. For members of the OIL who want to access the blog directly, simply type in okiraqi.org/blog. The homepage is targeted towards visitors and funnels them to the essential elements of what makes the OIL the OIL.

    The league website attracted 64,524 unique visitors in the past year, averaging 5,377 per week. Most of those visitors want to explore the site rather than read each update on the blog. Now, that is easier than ever. I hope you like it. If you have any feedback, let me know in the comments.

    Your 2016 OIL Championship Jerseys

    By OIL Commissioner Justin C. Cliburn
    They're here! They're here! Actually, I'm not sure why I'm so excited, since my third 'Mericans jersey somehow hasn't arrived yet. But I'm always excited to see our fake football designs turned into real jerseys. As always, these jerseys are brought to you by HopcoSports.com. Previous years' championship jerseys are here. First, your AFC champion Redlegs:

    Since it is his first championship, Zerger went with the home red jersey. The numbers and lettering on this one are sewn-on tackle twill. Next up, the NFC champion Dirty Hippies:

    This is Trovillo's second championship, so he ordered a white away jersey. Because of the tie-dyed elements of the lettering and numbers, those are ironed-on. Finally, the worst-to-first PFC champion Dirty Dogs:

    Buehre's home black jersey represents his first championship. Like Zerger's, Buehre's lettering and numbers are sewn-on like the real thing. Each of these jerseys has been shipped to its rightful owner. Congratulations, guys.

    2017 Bylaw Ballot Results

    Picture

    Just for Finch

    The following have been approved by the membership and have been incorporated into the updated bylaws:
    1. The Liberty Bowl will now run weeks 16 and 17 and will include all three conferences;
    2. The conference that has the lowest-scoring conference champion in week 16's championship games will incur a penalty of having to fetch beer for the Liberty Bowl-winning conference during that conference's draft the following season;
    3. A statement on dues and accounting of the OIL budget;
    4. A Treasurer position has been added;
    5. A Board of Directors has been added;
    6. The Board of Directors can initiate a vote on bylaw modifications;
    7. The penalty for not shipping the trophy to its new owner within two weeks of the new champion being crowned is loss of draft position choice in the following season's draft. Instead of having their choice of draft positions, the offending manager will instead receive the last available draft position. Every manager who finished behind the offending manager in the previous season will then move up one spot in the pecking order.
    The following proposal did not gain approval and will not be incorporated into the bylaws in 2017:
    1. Relegation.

    You can find the bylaws here.

    The Board of Directors consists of:
    • Justin C. Cliburn, OIL Commissioner;
    • Adam Duffy, OIL Co-Commissioner;
    • Kevin Pyle, Treasurer;
    • Zachary Jessen, NFC Representative;
    • Matthew Leal, NFC Representative;
    • Nick Reed, AFC Commissioner;
    • Lance Zerger, AFC Representative;
    • J.P. Peacock, AFC Representative;
    • Scott Buehre, PFC Commissioner;
    • Zackary Brake, PFC Representative;
    • Derrick Tadlock, PFC Representative.
